About Us

City Park Racquet Club (CPRC) was established in 1954 and incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 1983.  The corporation is organized and operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  CPRC provides clear pathways for under-resourced youth to quality tennis programming that incorporates learning, leadership development and good sportsmanship.  The purposes of CPRC include but are not limited to the following:  

 

  • to instruct and educate individuals of all ages and skill levels in the sport of tennis

  • to organize and sponsor an annual tennis tournament to be held at City Park

  • to foster better community relationships through the sport of tennis  

City Park is Denver's premier regional park and contains 14 outdoor tennis courts.  In addition, City Park is home to the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, horseshoes, baseball, football and soccer fields, two lakes, historical monuments and statuary, picnic sites, and two playgrounds.

Noteworthy past members of City Park Racquet Club include Chester Harris, Tariq Abdul-Hamid, and Warrick Jones, all of whom are members of the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame.

Activities

1.  Join a Team

CPRC is the home of women's, men's and mixed USTA league teams and other teams.  There are teams of NTRP ratings of 2.5 to 5.0  In other words, there is a team for nearly any skill level.  For information on USTA teams and schedules, visit the USTA Colorado Site.

If you are interested in joining a team sponsored by CPRC, please contact the CPRC League Coordinator at naknak1674@gmail.com.

2.  Play Anytime

The fourteen outdoor tennis courts at City Park are open to the public (unless reserved for an event) daily from sunrise until 11:00 pm.

3.  Adult Socials

Join City Park Racquet Club and be invited to social tennis throughout the year.  

Be paired with new (or old) friends and play women's, men's, or mixed doubles while enjoying music, snacks and treats.

4.  Tournaments

City Park is home to several tournaments each summer.  Our premier event is the Chester Harris Memorial City Park Tournament in July.

5.  Community Outreach

The City Park Racquet Club sponsors events to support several different charities, including those that assist under-resourced kids, and help the unhoused.
